Dermal filler can be used to reduce the lines that form at the corners of the mouth down towards the chin, creating a downturned mouth and exaggerated jowl appearance. Best results are sometimes achieved in combination with anti-wrinkle Botox® injections.
These lines or creases can age the lower part of the face. This is due to the fact that they create the appearance of a down-turned mouth, which affects our overall facial appearance and also causes the jowls to be more prominent.
This area can be treated with dermal filler, with anti-wrinkle (Botox®) injections or a combination of both depending on your needs. The treatment approach will depend on a number of factors and the most suitable option will be discussed during our initial consultation.
Topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) is applied to the area for 15-20 minutes prior to the filler treatment. A series of small filler injections are then given, the filler is then massaged into the correct areas to achieve the desired result. The filler itself contains a local anaesthetic, therefore the area being treated becomes more comfortable once the treatment has commenced.
